Marked by achingly slow 808 beats, eerie synth arpeggios, and vaporous guitar noise, with Jonnine Standish's singular sense of detachment, Work (work, work) registered as bleak, abrasive, and melancholic. Yet deeper listens through the murky, minimalist set reveal a romantic core. Something they’d surface further in the years to follow.
