Pre-Order: Everyone Says Hi - Funny Cos It's True [Color]
Everyone Says Hi return with their second album, Funny Cos It's True, a hook-heavy, groove-forward alt record that expands on the momentum of their acclaimed self-titled debut. The title says it all: the songs are candid, personal, and lived-in, delivered with lead singer and songwriter Nick Hodgson's sharp humor and a big-chorus instinct.
Funny Cos It's True is an 11-track collection of intoxicating indie-pop. Following the band's acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2024, the record finds them firmly stepping into their sound. Layered with a hazy retro feel while sounding distinctly fresh, the album rediscovers and reinvents classic influences with a heavy dose of infectiously anthemic choruses and a knack for lustrous songwriting. Lyrically, the album searches deep and resonates on an emotional level, with songs written from the perspective of a parent to his young daughter, as well as a son following the death of his own father from Alzheimer's disease.
Sonically, the band occupy a lustrous retro-futurist lane, blending classic textures and warm psych-pop sheen. Think Steely Dan, R.E.M., and Arcade Fire touchpoints, paired with the modern alt-rock glow of The War on Drugs and Tame Impala, but always with melody front and center.
