Digital Underground - Sex Packets (35th Anniversary) - Pop-Up Version [CD]
Sex Packets, Digital Underground's groundbreaking debut album, was released on March 20, 1990. Seamlessly blending funk-infused rhythms with jazz piano and satirical social commentary, the album crafts a unique concept, propelled by the infectious "Humpty Dance" and the charismatic persona of Humpty Hump. Heavily influenced by P-Funk, the album showcases innovative production by Shock G and addresses themes of sexuality and culture with a playful yet insightful approach. Sex Packets was certified platinum by the RIAA. The album reached #24 on the Billboard 200 and #8 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It includes the singles "Doowutchyalike" (which peaked at #19 on the Hot Rap Singles, #20 on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles chart and #29 on the Hot R&B Singles chart) and "The Humpty Dance" (which reached #11 on the pop charts, #7 on the R&B charts, and #1 on the Billboard Rap Singles chart). In celebration of the 35th anniversary of this landmark album, the CD features a gatefold cover that opens to reveal a three-dimensional pop-up of a recording studio, along with a photo booklet and also includes four bonus tracks.
