Independent Artist Month Continues at The Vinyl Groove with alvin frazier and Sound Suite Cleveland
Independent Artist Month has found a home at The Vinyl Groove — and it's not slowing down.
After a packed July 8 celebration with filmmaker and musician Myron Davis, TVG keeps the momentum going on Wednesday, July 22 at 7pm with a live performance and sit-down interview featuring Cleveland singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist alvin frazier, with EricaNicole of Sound Suite Cleveland returning to the mic as host and interviewer.
EricaNicole has been a constant presence throughout this series — bringing the same energy she brings to Sound Suite, where she leads community conversations about music, production and the culture behind the records. She's not just moderating. She's in the room asking the questions Cleveland music fans actually want answered.
This time, those questions are for alvin frazier.
Cleveland-born and self-taught on piano, guitar, bass and drums, alvin has spent decades building a career entirely on his own terms. His R&B, soul and jazz catalog has landed on the UK Soul Chart, earned him tour dates across England opening for British singer Hil St. Soul, and produced collaborations with indie R&B favorite Eric Roberson. He's the current bassist and vocalist of the Grammy Award-winning Dazz Band and has appeared on screen in the Don Cheadle-directed Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead and the Warner Brothers film Judas & The Black Messiah. As an independent artist, he's done all of it without a major label behind him.

That's the conversation. What it actually takes. The grind, the pivots, the moments that stick — straight from someone who's been doing it at a high level for a long time.
The evening opens with a live set of original songs, then EricaNicole takes it from there with a full interview and audience Q&A.
Free. All ages. In the store.
