Dinner Party Whatchu Bringing Canary Yellow Vinyl Released October 30

Dinner Party Whatchu Bringing Canary Yellow Vinyl Released October 30

Dinner Party’s Whatchu Bringing? has been streaming since August 7. On October 30 it finally lands on wax, and The Vinyl Groove has two ways to take it home: the standard black LP for $24.99 or the canary yellow indie exclusive for $27.99.

The lineup is Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin and 9th Wonder, with Phoelix handling most of the vocals. Nine tracks run about 25 minutes, so you can flip both sides before the dinner conversation dies. J. Ivy opens things with a spoken-word invitation on “Stop Being Late” and the lead single “If It Ain’t Broke (Love Wins)” sets the tone: warm, loose and locked in.

Watch the video for “Stop Being Late” below.

Start with “Breakfast at Sharkey’s” if you like your jazz with a head nod, then let “Peace of Mind” close the night. Guitarist Isaiah Sharkey shows up on several tracks and the finale leans on a Hiatus Kaiyote vocal sample. Jazz, soul and hip-hop share one room here and nobody is fighting over the aux cord.

The yellow pressing is limited to independent shops like ours, and a 12x12 insert comes with it. Pre-order yours at The Vinyl Groove, 5100 Pearl Rd in Cleveland, and we’ll have it waiting when the doors open on release day.

FAQ

What is the difference between the black and yellow vinyl? Same nine tracks on one LP. The canary yellow pressing is an indie exclusive with a 12x12 insert and costs $3 more.
