The Adicts came from Ipswich on the east coast of England, dressed in white in an amalgam of The Joker and Clockwork Orange imagery. They made a big impact in the UK, entering the national charts with their single on Sire Records - who insisted they change their name to ADX (or The Fun Adicts when on Children's TV!) With catchy, glam-punk singalong tunes and theatrical shows, The Adicts continue to grow their audience and regularly tour the USA, UK and Europe.

In the late 1960s, vibraphonist Roy Ayers was among the top young talents in jazz, thriving during a remarkable era for the genre. While Ayers would later become a jazz-funk pioneer and delve heavily into R&B fusions, his third album Stoned Soul Picnic is a masterful showcase of soul-jazz grooves. Produced by Herbie Mann, Stoned Soul Picnic features a memorable Laura Nyro-penned title track and an exceptional lineup of musicians, including Gary Bartz, Hubert Laws, Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock, and Grady Tate. Originally released in 1968, this early Roy Ayers classic is now receiving an official reissue on limited-edition splatter colored vinyl via Nature Sounds for Record Store Day 2023.

Europe 1966 is a box set consisting of live performances from free jazz visionary Albert Ayler. Each of the 4 LP's highlights some of the most magnificent moments on this European tour, showcasing Ayler and his bandmates at the height of their powers. The release includes performances from Berlin, L�rrach, Stockholm, and Paris, all of which occurred within a two week span. Ayler's masterful band on this tour included his brother Donald on trumpet, Michel Samson on violin, William Folwell on double bass, and Beaver Harris on drums. These performances have been remastered for vinyl by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering. The package also includes a 12 x 24 fold-out insert, featuring liner notes from John Litweller and photos from the tour. The release will be available for Record Store Day 2023, with each LP pressed on audiophile-grade black vinyl at Pallas Group in Germany.

Bish at the Bank: Live in Baltimore is an official, previously unissued set of recordings by one of the unsung heroes of bepop jazz piano, Walter Bishop Jr., featuring a swinging trio with Harold Vick on saxophone, Lou McIntosh on bass and Dick Berk on drums. This hand-numbered (limited edition worldwide of 3000), double LP set was transferred from the original tape reels and is pressed on 180g vinyl and boasts 100 minutes of music, The gatefold sleeve includes an extensive booklet with essays by esteemed jazz journalist Ted Panken and jazz video journalist and friend of Bishop's, Bret Primack, rare photos by Don Schlitten, Raymod Ross and Jan Persson, and poetry pieces written by Bishop. The set is produced by label owner/musician Cory Weeds and "Jazz Detective" producer Zev Feldman.

The double LP set consists of two shows recorded in Baltimore, Maryland, LP 1 recorded at The Madison Club on August 28, 1966 and LP 2 at The Famous Ballroom on February 26, 1967.

Harlem-born Bishop began his performing and recording career as part of Art Blakey�s Jazz Messengers on his debut Blue Note album in 1948. His bebop style continued on with gigs and recordings with Kenny Dorham, Jimmy Heath, Milt Jackson, Stan Getz, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Oscar Pettiford, Wynton Kelly and many others. In the 1960s he fronted a trio with Jimmy Garrison and G.T. Hogan. He recorded for various independent labels including Jazztime, Black Jazz and Muse Records.

The 8-track set cooks with two Miles Davis compositions along with standards such as �Willow Weep for Me,� Antonio Carlos Jobim�s �Quiet Nights� and Henry Mancini�s �The Days of Wine and Roses."

Harry Whitaker is a piano player, producer and arranger who at the age of 26 recorded Black Renaissance "Body, Mind, and Spirit," a holy grail amongst collectors of soul-jazz and rare groove, and an album so rare it's virtually a myth to many.

Made up of two long tracks that periodically build and release for forty minutes over two sides of an LP it's an improvised masterpiece combining Afrocentric spiritual soul, jazz, poetry, amazing solos, a tasty bass line or two and more than a fair share of funky beats. It's also one of the earliest jazz albums to feature rapping. "I called the project Black Renaissance because that is what I wanted to see happen - especially in music. I describe it as Dixieland circa 1976 - by the end of the songs everyone is playing together."

Given its rarity, when asked if he was surprised that people knew about the album Whitaker jokes "I've told enough people about it over the years! Now they can actually hear it. It was a record before it's time. It's not a commercial release - I think of it as classical. You can call it jazz, but it's free, it's got African roots, it's for people who people who dig that sound."

Harry Whitaker has enjoyed a successful career as a producer, arranger and composer, cutting his teeth on the best of the Roy Ayers Ubiquity releases and making a living working closely with Roberta Flack - as her musical director, even playing on her big Eugene McDaniels' written hit "I Feel Like Makin' Love." Black Renaissance "Body, Mind, and Spirit," was his first attempt at a project where he wrote and composed the music and played keys on both tracks.

Originally released in 1977 and highly considered as one of the grail titles in the Spiritual Jazz, Jazz-Funk canon. Reissued by Luv N'Haight in 2002 with a limited pressing. This repress on black vinyl will be exclusive to RSD.

Brown Sabbath is the alter ego of Austin-based Brownout, which delves into the catalog of the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal godfathers themselves: Black Sabbath. The album features several covers of Sabbath classics including �Iron Man�, �N.I.B� and �Hand Of Doom� with Black Angels singer Alex Maas.

Remaining true to the darkness, bombast and fuzz of Sabbath's sound, Brownout reinvents the music with their trademark flavors of Latin-Funk and Psychedelic Rock. Powerful horns combined with Alex Maas� haunting vocals, funked-up drums and percussion transform �Hand Of Doom� into a Rock and Funk juggernaut that clocks in at almost 8 minutes long. Alex Marrero takes his turn on the vocals and channels his inner Ozzy Osbourne on �The Wizard� and �N.I.B�. Deep, hypnotic percussion combined with a full horn section and Adrian Quesada�s heavy yet groovy lead guitar layered on top adds a funk sensibility and Latin flourishes to the originals throughout the album.

An 8-piece outfit formed ten years ago by members of Grammy Award-winning Latin revival orchestra Grupo Fantasma, Brownout has evolved into a musical force all its own. After garnering their third Austin Music Award last year, the band has continued to produce music that is unflinchingly progressive, while evoking the classic influences of artists such as WAR, Cymande and Funkadelic. The late, great Terry Callier was an icon and inspiration to many; his work on Cadet Records with Charles Stepney and Elektra in the 70s made him a cult artist. After coming out of musical semi-retirement and returning to the stage in the 90s, Terry's light continued to shine, wowing both old and new audiences with the exquisite beauty his music and voice channelled.
Following his stunning performance at the 2008 Meltdown Festival, curated by Massive Attack, Terry teamed up with the legendary British trio, which resulted in �Hidden Conversations'. Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja co-wrote �Wings�, �John Lee Hooker', and �Live With Me�. The combination of Robert Del Naja�s haunting production and Terry�s captivating, emotive vocals fused beautifully. Terry collaborated with the producers Christopher Grabowski and Mark Hardy on the remaining other songs on the album.

Live in Anvers is the last album Alex Chilton released under his own name during his lifetime. He had recently taught himself how to transcribe music and for the album he wrote out charts for a number of songs, some he�d written, �like �In the Street� from his Big Star days and �Bangkok� from his run in the late 70s New York punk scene. An obsessive crate digger, especially of southern soul music, Alex unearthed and transcribed the music for Claim to Fame: an obscure Frederick Knight track as well as things made popular by Sam and Dave and Ernie K Doe. Wake Up and Smell the Coffee is the fifth studio album by Irish alternative rock band The Cranberries, issued for the first time on vinyl for Record Store Day 2023.

Originally released in October 2001, the album sold 1,300,000 copies within its first year of release and was widely seen as a return to form for the band, as they reunited with producer Stephen Street.

With this first ever vinyl release the artwork, designed by the legendary Storm Thorgerson (Pink Floyd), can now be fully appreciated.

Urban Urbane is the fifth solo album from David J (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets), originally released on MCA Records in 1992. The album is a musical travelogue of sorts, with the initial recordings taking place in the tiny English village of Guilsborough, then London, New York and Los Angeles Aside from referencing those last three ports of call, the songs also name check New Orleans, Saint Petersburg and Memphis. It is a kind of collection of poetic snapshots from an itinerant drifter on the run.

The record is graced by contributions from a stellar cast of guest musicians including T Bone Burnett, Peter Murphy, Sonic Boom, Danny Thompson, Max Eider, The Uptown Horns and Charlie Giordano (E Street Band) amongst others. It was co-produced by the great Niko Bolas (Neil Young, Los Lobos etc).

To celebrate Urban Urbane�s 30th Anniversary this beautiful collection is being released exclusively for Record Store Day for the first time ever on vinyl. Miles Davis� On The Corner recently turned 50 and with each decade, its space age funk has only become more influential to generations of jazz, electronic, post-punk and especially hip hop fans and artists. This new vinyl release, Turnaround, cherry-picks four stellar cuts from the celebrated expanded project The Complete On The Corner Sessions, released in 2007 as a collection of key recordings captured before and after the release of On The Corner.

The tracks on this Record Store Day 2023 release feature what was his then-new band, including Michael Henderson on bass, Al Foster on drums and Mtume on percussion, plus rotating appearances by the likes of Herbie Hancock, Dave Liebman and Bennie Maupin.

The package features an adaptation of the celebrated Corky McCoy album cover of cartoon characters in pink, complemented by the limited edition sky blue vinyl, and marks the first time this material will be widely available on vinyl.

"Fred Davis was a legend, but only in my living room. There was always music around my house, but as a teenager, I started digging deeper and deeper in to the blues records in my Dad's collection. That was when I started to get the Fred Davis story in fits and starts. Fred could play like T-Bone Walker and sang in a high, keen voice like J.B. Lenoir, he said. He used to front a jump band in Kansas City, before something went down that sent him to prison at Leavenworth. In the summer of 1967, he ended up working alongside my Dad at Harco, the Cleveland factory where my grandfather was an executive. They became friends, bonding over the B.B. King and Bobby Bland records blaring from the AM radio on the factory floor.

Fred taught my Dad the rudiments of blues guitar, but his style. Instead of barring with his first finger, he wrapped his thumb around the back of the neck. That left his other fingers free to create big, ringing voicings that imitated the Kansas City horn sections he heard in his youth. Fred could play up and down the neck and, even when he played and sang just by himself, he sounded like a full band. Or, at least, so the legend went. These were only foggy memories from thirty years previous, passed down from a father to a son.

But then we found the tape. A quarter inch reel in a plain white cardboard box, hiding on a shelf in the attic. My Dad explained how it came to exist: He found some friends (acquaintances really) who had a band and some equipment. They setup in my grandparents living room where the upright piano was, and he invited Fred over to record some of his songs with the band backing him up. Invited him over, to play loud music, in his boss�s living room. Sounds like something I would have done. The idea was that maybe if there were some recordings of Fred that he could use them to get booked on the nascent college blues-revival circuit, but it wasn�t to be.

We found a place nearby that could dub the tape and put it on a CD for us. When we finally got the transfer back, the legend became real. Fred really COULD sing like J.B. Lenoir and play like T-Bone Walker. He really DID have his own style. And that style had now been passed on to me. Without even realizing it, I had learned to play like Fred Davis. Even now, when I sit down to play the guitar or write a song and I wrap my thumb around the neck, I�m playing like he did. With this music now professionally transferred and remastered, I can only hope that Fred Davis can finally receive the acclaim that he deserves; that he never received in his lifetime. The legend can finally go behind the confines of my living room and, with any luck, to the whole world."

When Long Island MC Diabolic broke into the rap scene with a hidden verse on Immortal Technique�s 2001 album Revolutionary Volume 1, it was evident that his explosive, uncut rhyme style would be something underground circles could salivate over. However, despite his obvious prowess on the microphone, empty offers from labels in the beginning stages of his career left him no choice but to steer clear from commitment until the perfect opportunity arose. Along came Viper Records, who gave Diabolic full control of his debut album, Liar & a Thief.

With over three years of work put into his inaugural LP, Diabolic rose to the occasion and let the industry know they had a problem on their hands. In the production of the British Columbia-based Engineer, Diabolic found the ideal soundscape to complement his enraged, often self-destructive lyricism better than one could expect.

In 2017, DIIV took the stage at Brooklyn�s Murmrr Theatre for a special, on-off, �unplugged� performance. Now, the band shares a compilation of those live recordings. Includes unique arrangements of tracks from the band�s first two albums - Oshin and Is The Is Are - as well as covers of Alex G�s �Hollow� and My Bloody Valentine�s �When You Sleep�.

Following the digital release in November 2022, the compilation is now available on vinyl for the first and only time, pressed on Eco vinyl - exclusive to Record Store Day 2023.

�In August 2017 I was 5 months sober and DIIV hadn�t played a show in almost a year. Our friend Ric helped us set up an intimate acoustic show in a theater in our hometown of brooklyn. We decorated the stage with stuff from our houses and played our home videos on a tv. We invited our friends and family and played some songs from our first two albums and some other artists� songs that felt important to us as a band. It felt like some kind of reset. We recorded the show and forgot about it for a bunch of years. We recently found the recordings and thought people might want to hear them. I think of it as a kind of official bootleg I guess.
